Marine fouling is driven by sunlight and high water temperatures. Therefore, the waterflow through the cages and oxygen level will be reduced. Strong algae growth causes the cage/net to become heavier, which causes stress and in the worst case scenario a breakdown of the cage construction. This in turn increases the risk of fish escape. The algea growth could also cause disease and stress symptoms in the biomass.

When the fish weight in the cages increases, so will the value of the biomass, so it´s even more important to keep the cages clean to ensure the natural water flow. Fresh water, with optimum oxygen levels will reach the fish. With Idema quality Net Cleaning equipment the fish in the location will prosper in optimum growth conditions.

Idema Net Cleaners were launched to the market in 1987, and are today renowned for quality and high performance in addition to being very user friendly. The first Net Cleaners had single 30cm diameter cleaning discs, operated from the cage edge with a shaft. Underwater flushing of cages containing fish has become even more common while the requirements to environmentally friendly aquaculture in larger cages provides the best profit. With this in mind we have developed and improved Idema Net Cleaners and can now present the best range of Net Cleaners and High pressure flushers ever. This combination offers you the most effecient cleaning system suited for all types and size of cage.

Effective Net Cleaning reduces decease and stimulates growth:

Strong marine fouling on the net can
stop the oxygen supply. Algea growth
can increase bacterial loads and cause deseases and stress in the biomass.

Net with growth. Water with oxygen
passes outside the cage.

Clean net. Water with oxygen
is flowing through the cage.

It is proven that increased marine fouling leads to reduced water flow. As a result, the oxygen rich water will mostly flow around the cage.

Gasoline, diesel or hydraulically driven High Pressure Washers?

We offer a rugged series of High Pressure Washers for seawater suited to various system solutions and cage sizes. The gasoline driven washers (F-Drive), are lightweight and perfect as portable units. The diesel driven units (D-Drive), are almost maintenance free, use less fuel then the gasoline models and are well suited for large, powerful, permanent solutions. The Hydraulic driven high pressure models (H-Drive), are small, compact and almost maintenance free, perfect for

Environment friendly, flexible and smart solutions ...

In Net Cleaning, filtered high pressure sea water is used to remove marine fouling on the nets. Idema Net Cleaners uses rotating cleaning discs mounted on cleaning rigs in various shapes and combinations. We use rugged, tailor-made high-pressure pumps to drive the cleaning discs. The cleaning process starts with submerging the rig on the inside of the net, using only sea water under high pressure. Idema Cleaning Systems does not use chemicals or scrubbing action. This is environmentally friendly and will not damage the nets.

A wide range of models - up to 7 cleaning discs

The large Net Cleaners can be operated in automatic mode by two persons via a crane, winch, cap stand or as a mounted option on ROV. (Remotely Operated Vehicle) The smallest Net Cleaners can easily be operated from the cage by a single person.

A video camera provides full overview of the Net Cleaning

On the larger Idema rigs we can offer tailor-made camera and video systems that provide a full overview, and the possibility to inspect of the nets. A camera installed direcly on the Net Cleaner will send you crystal clear video images that can be saved for later inspection and documentation of the net cleaning process.

With one of our smart camera systems you can watch the net cleaning both above and below water, via cable or via a wireless sensor network (CSU).
