Enthusiastic Runners from AKVA groupOn Saturday 45 runners from AKVA group gathered in Oslo to run Holmenkollstafetten.
Employes from all parts of Norway flew in to Oslo Saturday. We met up at The Edge, a restaurant on Aker Brygge, where Stine Egeland welcomed us to Oslo and yet another relay. Stine has been the driving force, motivating and inspiring AKVA group employees to wipe the dust of their trainers. We appreciate her efforts in making this a great event for all of us every time. At the Stage we ate a fantastic meal before we headed up to check into Thon Hotel Slottsparken, close to Slottsparken and the castle.
At the hotel, we got our start numbers and got ready for the relay before we split up in groups and went to find our starting points. The relay was organized for the very first time in 1923. The relay is divided into 15 stages, with different distances on each stage. The race starts at St. Hanshaugen and ends at Bislett Stadium, a total of 18km. Over 50 000 runners participated this year, breaking the all-time high record of participation. The weather were cooperating and the forecasted rain never made an appearance during the race.
AKVA group participated for the first time in 2013 with one team. In 2014 we were two teams and this year we entered three teams and 45 runners in total. This is first and foremost a social event, however, some still get competition nerves ahead of the race and all really give it their all. Pierre Hatjoullis and Ola Hausken impressed everyone coming in on the 199th and 210th place overall on their stage of the relay, which is fantastic considering we race professional runners and there were well over 3000 runners on each stage. Our teams came in on 1049th, 1565th and 1678th place out of well over 3000 teams. Not bad! After the race, some more relieved than others got ready for dinner and drinks.
Thanks to everyone for contributing to making this such a successful event by positive and enthusiastic spirits.Home
