Yesterday AKVA group gathered customers, partners and other interested parties to AKVAkulturdagen on Sandstad. More than 130 participants filled the fairground with mini stands and there was a good atmosphere.

img 6459CEO Trond Williksen opened the formal program with a warm welcome and states that this was a proud moment in his career. He emphasizes Hitra as a key region in the context of modern aquaculture.

This day was all about showcasing new technology, gather key players in a central region while showing off the new service office and the new assembly site. Hitra is a hub within the industry and plays a central role in the AKVA group's service commitment.

"This is a young industry, approximately 40 years old, and we are in a major development process now with a lot of new technology emerging," says CEO of AKVA group, Trond Williksen. He speaks further about market trends, the need for efficiency, and Norway's position as a leading force within technology, research and development, administration and seafood production.

"AKVA group is present in all salmon producing sites in the world. 80% of our revenue comes from salmon, and international aquaculture stakeholders are looking to us to seek knowledge, "observes Williksen.

Minister of Fisheries Per Sandberg took to the podium during the event. He talked about the industry that is constantly evolving, the strict requirements, the industry potential and the challenging future demands of food. He praises AKVA group for their efforts to develop new technology enabling future growth and efficiency, and states that the company is a great representative of the Norwegian industry worldwide. He tells the audience that wherever he goes in the world, they have heard of AKVA group. "AKVA group - keep it up! I look forward to the continuation!" he says before he says goodnight.

Harbourmaster for Kristiansund Harbor, Arnt Honstad talked about Hitra as the main hub in Mid-Norway and the Mayor of Hitra Municipality explained more about the municipality's commitment to Hitra as an aquaculture hub, what they are currently doing and what they have done to ensure Hitra's position as the world's leading fish farming region. He accentuates Hitra as aquaculture cradle and congratulates AKVA group with the new Service Station and assembly site strategically located here.

Ending the formal program, key people in AKVA group took the audience through various technology presentations. Jøran Strand talked about the Polarcirkel cages and the new assembly site on Hitra, Odd Jan Håland talked about the Service stations along the Norwegian coastline and the extensive service commitment within the company. Inge Forseth presented the new SUB feeder and the development of Atlantis, and he pointed to this as a contribution to the fight against sea lice. Ola Hausken presented rental and agreements of operation and Kjetil Horn from Nortek presented the latest in sensor technology. This all mounted to a well thought out program. All participants could leave with a little more input, hopefully inspired, and maybe some even left with a few new useful acquaintances.

The event was rounded off with a social gathering with barbecue and live music!
