What is your background?
I have a Master’s degree in Biology from the University of Southern Denmark. After graduating, I worked for four years as a water quality expert at a small Danish company focused on monitoring water quality at fish farms around the world.
After a brief period as a commercial project manager at a startup in Copenhagen, I was offered the opportunity to return to the aquaculture industry—this time as a project manager at AKVA group. I couldn’t say no to that.
I’ve now spent four years as a project manager in AKVA group Land Based and was recently promoted to Senior Project Manager.
What motivates you in your role at AKVA group?
As a project manager at AKVA group, you have a high degree of freedom in how you handle both projects and clients, while still working within a solid project execution model (PEM) that provides a shared framework. I really appreciate this balance between structure and flexibility.
It allows me to tailor the project management approach depending on the nature of the project and, importantly, the type of customer. Some clients prefer a more informal collaboration, while others expect a structured and detailed follow-up. What motivates me is the ability to adapt my working style and not be locked into a single method. It increases both job satisfaction and the quality of the projects we deliver.
What does a typical workday look like for you?
A typical day for me involves coordinating both internally and externally. That means making sure my skilled project team members have clear direction regarding deliverables, timelines, and budgets.
A large part of the job is also being the face of the project toward the client—filtering all information that needs to go both from us to them and from them to the project team. This happens through meetings, calls, emails, and site visits.
In addition, it’s important to keep management updated on the progress of schedules, budgets, and any challenges the project team may need help with. All of this makes for an incredibly varied workday where no two days are the same.
Why did you choose AKVA group as your employer?
My first job after university was in the aquaculture industry, and I developed a real passion for this exciting field. When the opportunity came to join one of the major players in the market as a project manager, I jumped at it.
What makes AKVA group particularly exciting is that projects vary across many dimensions—size, country, timeline, and more. That means there’s great variety in the types of projects we work on, while still maintaining a clear and consistent delivery model across the company.
Where do you see yourself in five years?
I’m currently working with a client in Iceland who is developing one of the world’s largest reuse facilities. We’ve just begun building phase two out of six, and the client expects all six phases to be completed by 2032.
I hope that five years from now, I’m still working at AKVA group and have completed several of the remaining phases together with our client in Iceland.
