Airborne feeding

The most widely used feeding system worldwide
AKVA group’s airborne feeding system is designed to support all feeding regimes, from low to high capacity.
Since its introduction in 1980, it has been the world’s best-selling feeding system for both land-based and sea-based farming.
The system is suitable for all pellet-fed species. It includes integrated camera control, environmental sensor connectivity and full integration with AKVA fishtalk, our software for production management.
Accurate dosing at the required rate ensures consistent feed delivery. All feeding and environmental data are stored in the AKVA fishtalk database, providing full operational overview and documentation to support informed decision-making.
A single system can manage more than 40 feed lines in parallel and over 1,000 tanks or pens, operated from one PC, tablet or smartphone.
All components are developed and tested over decades to ensure reliable performance and gentle pellet handling.
Accurate feed delivery at the required rate, every time.
The system supports optimisation of the entire feeding process. Both the feeding system and its components are based on decades of development and field testing, ensuring reliable performance and gentle pellet handling.

The blowers generate transport air for the feeding system. Units are delivered in high-quality silencer cabinets to ensure a safe and comfortable working environment.

Feed dosers introduce pellets into the airflow at capacities of up to 192 kg/min while maintaining pellet quality. Both feed doser valves and feed augers with sluice valves are available.

The CCS range includes selector valve models with connections from 4 to 60 feed lines and pipe dimensions from 32 mm (1”) up to 110 mm (4”).

Regulated air speed keeps pellets within the optimal transport range, significantly reducing the risk of blockages and feed breakage.

The air cooler regulates the temperature of the transport air above or below the surface, supporting stable operation.

A cleaning sponge is inserted into the system via the feed pipe cleaner and transported through the pipes using pressurised air. The sponge removes feed residues and condensate, minimising deposits inside the pipes.

Controlling transport air speed is essential for maintaining pellet quality. Excessive speed increases dust formation and feed breakage. Reducing air speed significantly lowers dust levels and pellet damage.
Rotor spreaders are designed to ensure effective feed distribution in pens while operating at lower air speeds. Adjustable, lightweight aluminium rotor pipes enable reduced start-up and operating speed. This results in:
The ventilated Zenon bearing features low friction, requires no regular cleaning and is corrosion resistant.
Reduced feed waste – designed for excellent feed spread and gentle handling
Preventing just 1% feed waste in a larger farming operation can represent an annual improvement of NOK 300,000–600,000, depending on production volume.
The ventilated bearing offers low friction, requires no regular cleaning and does not corrode.
The twistable rotor tip has a less curved design to support gentler pellet handling.
Rotor Spreader Hex combines lightweight construction with structural strength for reliable performance in exposed conditions.
The RS-63 and RS-90 models include a galvanised steel keel weight to ensure stability in rough seas.
Foam-filled HDPE pipes form a floating base that is practically unsinkable.
The lightweight construction makes Rotor Spreader Hex easy to install and relocate.
