Flexible feeding is an add-on concept for airborne and waterborne feeding systems. It allows you to distribute feed from all silos to all pens across the facility, improving feed logistics and operational flexibility.

In traditional systems, each silo is connected to a dedicated feed line. Flexible feeding removes this restriction. You can combine feed types and pellet sizes across pens, adjusting allocations quickly and efficiently.

A conveyor system enables feed to be transferred from any silo to any buffer tank.

One buffer tank is installed for each feed line inside the barge. A conveyor system enables feed to be transferred from any silo to any buffer tank. Using load cells and the AKVA connect control system, you have full visibility and control of feed levels in each buffer tank. From there, the central feeding system distributes feed to the pens.

This video provides a clear explanation of how the Flexible Feeding concept works.

Higher capacity and time savings

A high-capacity conveyor system automatically moves feed from the main silos to keep the buffer tanks filled.

Outlet valves

The outlet valves fill up to two buffer tanks, one at a time. An inspection lid on top allows for easy inspection and cleaning.

Buffer tanks

The buffer tanks are designed according to the client’s specifications. From the buffer tanks, feed is transferred through the central feeding system to each pen.

Inlet valves

The inlet valves transfer pellets to the conveyor or feed pipe with minimal pellet damage.

Brush box

The brush box handles excess conveyed material, which is either returned to the conveyor line or directed into a recycle bin.

Gentle handling of pellets

With Flexible Feeding, pellets are transported gently between the silos and buffer tanks in small pockets between the discs of the cable-pulling system.
