Based on this shift we have the recent years launched several barge models with water transport of the feed, which in itself results in a reduction in energy consumption for more than 80% when feeding compared to a traditional barge model with air transport of the feed.
The energy consumption for operating the entire site will then have the potential to be reduced by up to 50 %.
AKVA group can deliver feed barges suitable for a wide range of sites and climates, including inshore, offshore, arctic and tropical areas.
All barges are delivered complete, fully selfcontained with AKVA group Feed Systems, generator(s), control room, living quarters, safety equipment and all other optional equipment installed, such as integrated mort silage systems, camera- and sensor systems.
Main purpose
The main purpose for a feed barge is to provide the most efficient and reliable feed storage and feed system for your farming operations. The second purpose is to provide a safe and seaworthy barge that can withstand the forces of nature at your farmbase site.
Feed storage, feeding system and control software
AKVA group deliver a wide range of feed barges with different size of the feed storage, from 96 ton to 850 ton of feed. There are from 4 to 12 feed silos depending on storage capacity and model. Besides the feed storage capacity each barge can accommodate a model dependent storage capacity of ensilage, industry water, drinking water and fuel.
The AKVA group centralized feeding system is the main system and the hart of each feeding barge. AKVA group have more than 40 years’ experience in design and production of centralized feeding system for the industrialized fish farming industry. Our feed barges can be equipped with a feeding system that fit the customers need and actual barge model, from two to more than 16 parallel feeding lines.
Feed systems
AKVA group currently delivers two different types of feeding systems, which are based on pneumatic or waterborne transport of pellets.
Both of these systems are based on central feeding, where feed is collected from central silo storage on the barge and is then transported out to the pens using air or water.
Barge accessories
For the different barge models there is a lot of equipment and extras that can be selected, to get a total overview what fit to the different models you need to contact your sales representative.
Important equipment for a feed barge will be:
- Barge Control: a module in AKVA connect that keep control and overview of all processes and on the barge. All status from levels in tanks to remotely start and shutoff of barge can be done remotely via Barge Control.
- Ensilage system: To keep the ensilage as a valuable product it’s important to treat the raw material and the further processing process. AKVA group has designed a two stage and high-capacity silage system that ensure a stable and valuable ensilage product of your dead fish.
- Hybrid power supply: A must to have equipment that reduce the running time on generator by 50 – 90%, reduce the diesel consumption with upto 60% and CO2 and NOx emission the same.
General info for feed barges
Our barges are built using definitions and specifications that comply with Norwegian regulatory requirements. TN-S 400V 50 HZ systems are in accordance with FEL, NEK 400:2018, NEK 400-8-820 Aquaculture facilities and machinery regulations. That the barge following all applicable HSE regulation are important part of the design.
